Ithaca Rowing
In light of the amazing cultural exchange opportunities we've had thus far, we would like to share something that is incredibly important to our community. The sport of rowing, known as "crew" in the United States, is a popular sport, especially at the collegiate level around the world. Crew is commonly regarded as the ultimate team sport, with the vast majority of rowers rowing in large team boats (nine people). In our town, we are lucky to have Cascadilla Boat Club, an organization that allows students and adults to row. Just at Ithaca High School, upwards of 40 students are rowers! The boathouse is located approximately 17 minutes away from the high school by foot, and just a few minutes by car (at Stewart Park, shown in Sherrie's et al. video). Linked is a short clip of Friday's crew practice. The beautiful building in the background is Island Health and Fitness, one of the more upscale gyms in our area. In the video, we are rowing in the Cayuga Inlet, a little channel that branches off from our lake.

So, in 1948 it was parted in 2, for boys and girls, in 1952 it became a school just for boys and in 1956 for both. The total number of different names the college has had is 13 and it received the title it has today, in 1996.

'Besides having a rich history and many achievements to be proud of, " Caragiale" is loved and respected by its students. Everybody knows the high school anthem, which students and teachers sing together in the first day of every academic year and in the graduation day.
This is a rough translation of the original lyrics in Romanian:
Hey, Caragiale, your old oaks,
I greet them at the beginning of the day
When overwhelmed by the student's noise
You look like a smiling grandfather among children.
Hey, Caragiale, I greet your classrooms
Where generations have been taught
And I’m thanking you because in the years that have passed
I have become a man.
We won’t forget the teachers,
The emotions, the classes and the behavior grades.
On the graduation day don’t be upset
Be proud, because you have been a Caragiale student.
Chorus
Dear Caragiale
We will always love you
Nobody will forget
The high school years.
Hey, Caragiale, I greet your classrooms
In which generations have been taught
Hey, Caragiale, I greet your classrooms
Where generations have been taught.
